Textile Art

PASAYA’s Textile Art was originally created in 2004 to help fundraising for the Seub Nakhasathien Foundation.

The original iteration involved the image of 7 famous species of the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary. PASAYA recreated pictures of these animals as a woven fabric with the size of 1.5-by-2.4 meters.

Textile Art combines complex weaving techniques and technological innovation. Due to its complexity, creating the product requires a multidisciplinary team of textile engineers and designers and a 5-by-5-by-6 meters computer-controlled weaving machine. The result is a magnificent decorative piece with 14 layers of threads of differing color. Depending on the size and complexity of the image, the creation of a Textile Art takes anywhere between two weeks to two months and costs tens to hundreds of thousand baht. In an effort to make Textile Art more affordable, PASAYA developed a new technique that could bring the cost down by four times, by reducing the layers down to 4 - 6 layers. The new technique also allows for the creation of even larger pieces; up to 2.5 meters wide and with any length.

The requirement of custom-made a Textile Art:

1. Send in the .JPG file of not smaller than 4 MB to the shops mentioned above
2. Specify the size and the number of pictures to be custom-made.
3. The time to produce takes 2-4 weeks.
